What the reports mean, and who owns what.

Effective October 4, 2026

Reports are informational

EXE Inspector analyzes the structure of Windows files without running them. Its verdicts are informed estimates, not guarantees. Actual behavior depends on the program, its settings, updates, online services and the software you use to run it.

Not a security tool

A favorable report does not mean a file is safe. EXE Inspector does not detect malware. Only open software from sources you trust.

Online games and anti-cheat

Some online games do not allow running through a compatibility layer, and their anti-cheat systems may block or flag such use. Decisions about playing them are yours.

PortWin

EXE Inspector mentions PortWin, a separate app by the same developer for running Windows software on a Mac. Using EXE Inspector does not require PortWin.
